Fall 2008
Spring flowing into Autumn
There was a spate of energy and vivacity in the collections at the New York Fashion Week. Androgyny, tone-on-tone, layering, waists cinched at the waist by a slim belt, colour palette of acid yellow, military jodhpurs, floral prints, shear ling collars, metallic green and purple were dominant. Yellow is here to stay and its like the new black.
Some of my attention grabbers are:
THREEASFOUR: I liked the inventive silhouette and experimentation.
Oscar de le renta and Jason Wu: I liked the floral prints. Gorgeous ones like the spring summer's.
Tracy Reese: Liked the grass and rose prints.
Preen: I liked plaid cocoon jacket with a shear ling collar and also the parachute dresses.
Rodarte: For ethereal dresses with thready layerings.
Marc by Marc Jacobs: I quite liked large usage of the zips and buckles in the dresses. I also liked the way he mixed greens, blues, pinks with black in a hounds tooth pattern. I loved the zip details, belts and especially the accessories like the bags and footwear.
Mathew Williamson: I liked the elements like tone on tone. Loved the use of pink, mauve, blue with black again in prints. I especially loved the shoes.
Badgley Mischka: The best were the evening dresses. I also liked the wide legged trousers and how black was mixed with purple and green in some of the dresses.
Temperley: sexy skirts and boots. Great use of leather!
Herve Leger: An all time favourites. Loved the figure skimming bandage dresses.
Nicole Miller: Liked the silver lame minidress.
For those of you, who are die-hard romantics...with an eye for art and aesthetics...and admire all the colourful things in life...dynamism of design, flowers, books, clothes etc....
