London Spring 2009

Vivienne Westwood Red label: What struck me most about the Vivienne Westwood Red label line were gorgeous draping which made the silhouette easy on the eyes and also lending a touch of sensuality. the drapes were not just confined to neck and abdomen area but also on the lapels. A deconstructed silhouette, smart shirt-dresses with hoodies, jackets, shorts and pencil skirts made the line edgy, sharp and also sexy. What stood out were metallic jackets, jackets with peplum detailing and dresses with assymetrical and serrated necklines.

Gile: Sheath dresses in black and white were gothic and warrior like. Ruffles and feathers around the neck were a recurring the theme in the show and injected a dose of high drama. A colour palette of bright orange, red, candy pink, acid yellow and black made it a femme fatale collection.

The most appealing numbers were the ones with peter pan collars. There was a lot of interplay of textures. The number which was clearly a spectacle to behold was a black draped gown with a extra-terrestrial reddish black head gear.

You know I'd be the last person to appreciate fashion trends. But I liked the way you described those labels. Sleek. The best part being the conciseness. People say that beauty lies in the details. Which is obviously incomplete. Beauty lies in the details only if the details are precise. Nicely written Manish. Every word stood out.
