Can't get chicer than this!
Chanel fall haute couture 2008
Chanel is one brand that has stood the test of times. The little black dress which Coco gifted to the world has seen countless variants and it never fails to arrest the discerning couture loving fashionistas, with a penchant for sophisticated and chic dressing. The basic elements in Chanel-the color pallete of black, white and gun metal grey, usage of pearls(I adore the south sea pearls), tweed fabric and the two toned shoes remain the same though the inspiration changes season after season.
The latest collection was a departure from Lagerfeld's last collection where all the dresses were inspired from the sea shells. This time the dresses in the colors of grey, black, white, silver and pink were inspired from tubular structure. Usage of tubes all over the dresses, tubular sleeves and lot of pin tucks which added to the feminine pleats-- veered the collection towards an ethereal, elegant, formal and wearable look. The conical columns which jutted out of a three dimensional number worn by model Burna Tenorio was my favorite. The fucshia pink dress with puffed sleeves was cutesy and of course the closing gowns which screamed METALLICA-simply took my breath away!
Another spectacular show from Chanel with Lagerfeld's quirky twist to the timeless and legendary LBD! Long live Lagerfeld!
