Mens Fall 2008: Russian Czar meets Charlie Chaplin meets Cary Grant meets Euro-Monarch!

My favourite remained Gucci with strong Russian influence. As Tim Blanks on Style.com remarked, "tousle-haired, dark-eyed gypsy boys and their wild Cossack style". Loved the coins and charms wrapped around waists. Coats and jackets in velvet trims took my breath away. Gucci's riveting ensembles were a visual onslaught! Also the Gucci make-up and shoes and pair of slim belts at Paul Smith.
Worth mentioning is Jean Paul Gaultier's line injected with "frenchness" who was paying tribute to French poets and musicians. I particularly liked the bowler hats, silk cravats, pins-stripped jackets and plaid trousers.
I also liked the "happy coupledom" and regal theme of Giorgio Armani. To quote Tim again, "By "Regal," it's safe to assume the designer was thinking of Hollywood royalty as much as any tin-pot Euro monarch. Indeed, there were moments when one imagined a modern-day Cary Grant racing through a screen adventure in something like the richly bronzed nylon coat or anaconda-print jacket."
LV collection was gorgeous too esp the bag and gloves.
