I just loved Daniel Radcliffe and other kids in Australian production film "December Boys". Daniel has come a long way from his Harry Potter days. Even other boys were awesome especially 'Misty'. Beautifully shot on a virgin beach, this film is about four orphan boys who go on a vacation. The longing for parental love and seeking family life is what tugs at your heart!
Another film that touched me was Taare Zameen Par. I just couldn't control my tears. Hats off to Aamir Khan for daring to work on such an unexplored subject!!!
The film highlights a very pertinent point-how childhood is becoming uneasy, demanding and in fact to an extent downright cruel. It's all about percentage, trophies and one upmanship. Society compels kids to transform into horses by betting a lot on them and making them run like crazy in a maddening race!
Comparisons from cousins, neighbours and expectations from every where tend to do our kids in. I think it's high time we start respecting kids for what they are. Because the fact is every child is special and film proves that so loud and clear!
For those of you, who are die-hard romantics...with an eye for art and aesthetics...and admire all the colourful things in life...dynamism of design, flowers, books, clothes etc....
